In the race for Fresno County Supervisor District 4, Narinder “Nick” Sahota is steadily gaining attention as a candidate whose blend of business experience, agricultural roots, and hands‑on community engagement is resonating with voters across the Valley.
Sahota, a Selma resident, farmer, and longtime business owner, officially launched his campaign with a well‑attended kickoff event in Fresno on March 13. According to his campaign, the event drew farmers, business owners, community leaders, and elected officials from across the Central Valley—an early sign of the broad coalition he is building.

“I am deeply grateful and truly humbled by the overwhelming support,” Sahota said during the event, emphasizing that his campaign is focused on protecting agriculture, securing reliable water, improving infrastructure, and creating opportunities for future generations.
A Candidate Rooted in Agriculture and Local Business
Sahota brings more than three decades of farming experience, growing raisins, almonds, peaches, and pistachios. He has also operated Central Valley Engineering & Surveying for over 25 years, working with cities, developers, and residents on infrastructure and development projects throughout the region.
His background gives him a firsthand understanding of the challenges facing Valley farmers, small businesses, and working families—issues that remain central to his platform.
“As a farmer for more than 35 years, a small business owner for over 25 years and a school board trustee, I understand the struggles our families face,” Sahota said.
Community Leadership and Public Service
Beyond business and agriculture, Sahota has built a long record of community involvement. He has served six years on the Selma Unified School District Board of Trustees—including two years as board president—where he supported career technical education programs and helped implement a Punjabi language curriculum recognized by the state of California.
His service extends to organizations such as the Selma Chamber of Commerce, Selma Rotary Club, the Sikh Historical Society, and the Fresno County Housing and Community Development Citizens Committee.
A Ground Campaign Focused on Listening
While the District 4 race includes well‑known figures—including former Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims—Sahota has distinguished himself through an intensive, boots‑on‑the‑ground approach. He has been walking neighborhoods, visiting farms, meeting with small business owners, and speaking directly with residents about their concerns.
At a recent candidate forum hosted by GV Wire, Sahota expressed support for the Better Roads, Safer Streets transportation sales tax measure, emphasizing the need for strong oversight to ensure funds are used responsibly.
He noted that fixing roads must remain the top priority for rural communities that rely on safe, reliable infrastructure.
Sahota “stressed the importance of oversight to ensure that the billions in future funding weren’t ‘misused’ and that fixing roads was the No. 1 priority.”
A Vision Focused on the Valley’s Future
Sahota’s campaign centers on protecting the Valley’s way of life—its farmland, water resources, small businesses, and rural communities. He has pledged to work to streamline development processes, strengthen county services, and expand economic opportunities so that young people can build their futures in the Central Valley rather than leaving in search of jobs elsewhere.
“This campaign is not about me,” Sahota said. “It’s about protecting our farmland, water, jobs and communities.”
A Strong Contender in a Competitive Field
While the race includes experienced public figures, Sahota’s supporters point to his combination of business expertise, agricultural knowledge, and community service as qualities that make him a compelling choice for District 4. His active presence in neighborhoods and rural towns has helped him connect with voters who want a supervisor who understands their daily challenges and is willing to meet them where they are.
As the June 2 primary approaches, Sahota continues to appeal directly to constituents, emphasizing collaboration, transparency, and a commitment to building a stronger future for Fresno County.
