
Announcement to give ₹1,500 monthly allowance to unemployed people who have passed 10th grade.
Calcutta/agencies/Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, announced that unemployed youth who have passed Class 10 will receive a monthly allowance of ₹1,500 starting March 7 under the Yuva Sathi Scheme. The scheme targets men and women aged 21–40 who are not receiving benefits from other government schemes (except scholarships). Around 1 crore people have applied.
The announcement was made ahead of the International Women’s Day (March 8), and the payment date was advanced from April 1 to March 7 as a symbolic gift.
Banerjee also highlighted that:
Unemployment in Bengal has reduced by 40%.
40 lakh people received skill training, with about 10 lakh already employed through programs like Utkarsha Bangla.
The government is supporting farmers and building economic corridors and power plants to boost development.
The state is expanding IT, small-scale industries, and self-help groups to create more jobs.
Overall, the scheme aims to financially support unemployed youth while the state expands job opportunities and economic development.
