A native girl of Panipat, Haryana (India) was severely burnt in an accident, three years old Shifa was with her mom in the kitchen at the time of incident. While her mom was cooking, the entire hot oil pan fell on Shifa, leaving her body to suffer 90% burns. The burns were declared to be severe by the doctors and disfigured her arms and hands and caused facial deformities.

A young girl who has every right to feel beautiful was now facing a massive facial and body injury. Shifa belongs to marginalised section of society and her family couldn’t afford her treatment. Shifa’s family came forward and appealed to the society to raise funds for treatment of their girl child, who is as pretty as any other girl and deserves to be saved and treated. The girl already went through multiple surgeries but still needs proper treatment including physical therapies for better recovery.

Dr. Rama Kant Dawar, an NRI who arrived from the city of Fresno, USA, extended his hands to help in the treatment of this girl child and donated 50,000 INR to the family for her further treatment and therapies.

Dr. Rama Kant Dawar is not only an active member and supporter of Fresno’s non-profit organisation ‘Helping Hands of Fresno’, but also holds the office of this organization as CEO. The NPO raises funds in order to support the victims of such accidents and families in need, it is a welfare organization with the motive of community help by creating awareness for the needy in the society. Dr. Dawar also appealed to the people and organizations of India to help the victim’s family and promised to help further through the support of their organization. The NPO strives to serve the community without any race, religion or country origin and reaches out anywhere in the world to help.

It was also considered that one of the Panipat’s NGO (non-government organization) Nari Tu Narayani and three journailists of Panipat Mr. Lalit Sharma of Aajkal Panipat, Mr. Pardeep Kataria also from Panipat Aajkal and Mr. Madan Lal Bareja approached to Dr. Rama Kant Dawar to seek assistance for this girl. Dr. Dawar promised to assist the girl and he complied with his words and brought financial assistance for the victim.

The victim in this case suffered burns due to accident at home but globally there are people suffering facial deformities and body burns due to acid attacks. A lot of times, when the patients are injured in an acid attack, it’s because they’re not trying to kill the patients but cause them disfigurement and pain as opposed to death, which is a crime against the humanity. The governments and the law enforcements should take a strong action against the criminals, who are the cause of this types of criminal activities. Eventually according to a data base of Indian and Pakistani criminal records there are more than 15,000 case of acid burns each year.

But in this case the victim was an innocent child and burned herself while touching the hot pan full of hot cooking oil that fell on her. Panipat’s press reporters, deputy commissioner and NGO Nari Tu Narayani has praised Dr. Rama Kant Dawar, who is also an advocate for his good deeds to the community. It is considerable that Dr. Rama Kant Dawar also belongs to Panipat and was born and raised in the City of Panipat and hails from village Lohari of Panipat District and is a well known journalist to Panipat, who did a lot of social works when he was living in India including starting the Panipat’s first Blood Bank with the cooperation of local Red Cross Society of Paniapt and former Deputy Commissioner of Panipat Mr. Vijay Kumar.

It is very considerable matter that we rarely see these types of cases being talked about or fund being raised for the treatments of acid attack survivors, and even there is no assistance from the social organizations, our political leadership, government agencies and even health department of states and central government of India. People or victims of acid attacks are having a huge outcry, because even the acid attackers are caught, but are bailed out and the victims suffer for the rest of their lives.

Mostly in these cases the victim loses hope and prefers death over a disfigured face and body but when the community decides to help and stand beside the survivor it gives them hope to fight against all odds. There is certainly need of more such people and welfare organizations, who solely help the society and make this world a better place to live.

When spoken to the parents of Shifa, they have conveyed their regards to the NRI Mr. Rama Kant Dawar, reporters Mr. Pardeep Kumar Kataria, Lalit Kumar Sharma, Mr. Madan Lal Bareja, and the non profit organization Nari Tu Naryani. They also showed their regards to the foreign organization and their officers, who came to Panipat and helped the little girl Shifa.
